Course Description
Discover drawing as a way of thinking, exploring and communicating ideas. This welcoming course introduces contemporary drawing in its broadest sense, combining traditional and experimental approaches through pen and ink, charcoal, conté, pastel and simple monoprint techniques. Through playful exploration, practical projects and artist-inspired activities, you will develop confidence with line, tone, texture, composition and personal mark-making while discovering your own visual language.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for complete beginners and anyone wishing to develop confidence in drawing through a contemporary and supportive approach. No previous experience is required.

Weekly Content
Week 1 – Drawing as Exploration: Beyond the Pencil
Discover drawing as a creative language through expressive mark-making, line, gesture and experimental materials. Explore how contemporary artists use drawing as a tool for thinking, communication and exploration.
Week 2 – Building Form and Light
Develop observational and expressive drawing through tone, contrast and form using charcoal. Explore techniques for creating depth, atmosphere and structure.
