The VTCT Level 1 Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector provides a wide range of practical skills from both industries. It’s perfect for beginners, preparing you for work as a supervised assistant or apprentice or for further studies in hairdressing and beauty therapy.

You will develop skills in: Introduction to the hair and beauty sector, present a professional image in a salon, health and safety practices, salon reception duties. Shampooing and conditioning hair, plaiting and twisting hair, temporary hair colouring, basic makeup application, hand or skincare, manicure or pedicure treatments

How Will I be Assessed
You will build a portfolio of your work on the online platform Manage-Assess and will be assessed in your practical work by your Lecturers and you will have written assignments.
This flexible course is designed to suit your interests and support your career goals providing the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the hair and beauty industry.

Progression
Once you have successfully achieved your Level1 qualification, you can progress to a range of Level 2 qualifications.

Equipment:
A hairdressing and beauty kit is required to develop your skills and complete the course. This will be discussed in Induction when you start your course. If you are on a low wage, you may be eligible for support through the Hardship Fund.

Paying for the Course:
If you’re on a low wage or receiving benefits, you may qualify for a 100% or 70% concession. Speak to our staff to find out if you're eligible.

Course Enrolment and Assessment:
Before enrolling, you’ll attend a face-to-face interview with a short English and Maths assessment, lasting around 2 hours.
