Digital Skills – Intermediate

This course is for learners who have completed Digital Skills for Improvers, or who already feel confident using digital devices in everyday life and want to take the next step towards using IT in the workplace.

You’ll work towards the Essential Digital Skills Qualification (Entry Level 3), accredited by Gateway Qualifications. The course is designed to help you develop the digital knowledge and confidence needed to complete tasks independently at home, in work and in daily life.

The course covers five key skill areas:

- Using Devices & Handling Information
Understand hardware, software and operating systems. Learn how to change system settings (including accessibility), install apps, manage files and folders, use different storage devices and troubleshoot simple technical issues.

- Creating & Editing
Create and format documents for different purposes. Learn to capture, edit and save images, sound and video content.

- Communicating
Use email and video calls more effectively, including how to adapt communication style for different audiences.

- Transacting
Stay safe when buying online, using verification codes and managing transaction accounts. Compare products, complete forms and make secure payments.

- Being Safe & Responsible Online
Learn best practices in privacy, data protection and respectful online behaviour. Understand how to recognise and avoid harmful or inappropriate content.

Before starting, you’ll complete a short assessment to ensure this course matches your skill level. If you’ve just completed Digital Skills for Improvers, you can progress directly.

After successfully passing the Entry Level 3 exam, you’ll be ready to progress to:

- Digital Skills – Advanced
- Specialist short courses such as Excel, PowerPoint or Presentation Skills
