Digital Skills for Improvers
This course is ideal if you already have a little experience using digital devices and want to build on your basic knowledge in a supportive environment. You’ll develop practical IT skills to help you use technology with more confidence at home, for leisure and to stay connected.
You’ll learn how to use a range of digital tools and applications on devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops or desktop computers.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
- Use common device features and settings to personalise your experience
- Safely search the internet and use websites for information and entertainment
- Set up and use an email account to communicate with friends, family or services
- Create and save simple documents such as letters or messages
- Understand how to use technology safely, protect your information and avoid common online risks
The course is accredited by Gateway Qualifications and includes a portfolio of tasks you’ll complete with the support of your tutor. You’ll be introduced to software and apps commonly used in everyday life and begin developing transferable digital skills that support your independence and wellbeing.
Before joining, you’ll complete a short assessment to make sure this course is right for your level. If you’re new to using devices, you may be more suited to Everyday Digital Skills for Adults.
Once you complete this course, you’ll be ready to progress to:
