Course Title: Make a quilted Gilet
Course Description: Course Description: In this practical 5-week course, learners will design and construct their own quilted gilet from start to finish. Guided step-by-step, participants will explore essential garment-making skills including pattern selection, fabric cutting, quilting techniques, assembly, and finishing. By the end of the course, each learner will have created a fully wearable, personalised quilted gilet while gaining confidence in using a sewing machine, handling different textiles, and applying core dressmaking methods. This course is ideal for anyone interested in developing their sewing skills through a focused, creative project.

Who is the course for?
This course is suitable for those who are familiar with a sewing machine and have an interest in developing simple patterns to create their own clothing.

What will you learn? / How is the course delivered? What subjects or area will be looked at each week or semester?

· Copying a simple pattern and sizing to fit

· Cutting pattern pieces in fabric and preparing to quilt

· Using the sewing machine to quilt fabric with wadding

· Assembly of gilet using sewing machine

· Finishing and customisation


Essential equipment and resources

· Fabric

· Wadding

· Tape measure and ruler

· Thread

· Pen and paper


Learners are advised to bring their own essential sewing kit containing scissors, measuring devices, tailors chalk or similar to mark fabric, pins and hand sewing needles. Learners should also supply their own fabric to create their Gilet (lecturer will advise) The college supplies calico, other fabric is available but is limited.
