Course description
This one‑day workshop is designed for absolute beginners who want to learn how to use a sewing machine with confidence. Whether you’ve recently bought a sewing machine that’s still in the box or you’ve always wanted to learn how to sew, this practical course is the perfect way to get started.

You will be guided step by step through setting up a sewing machine, understanding its main parts and learning how to wind a bobbin and thread the machine correctly. You’ll practise using straight and zig zag stitches, learn essential do’s and don’ts and build confidence through guided practice.

Once you’ve had time to practise, you’ll put your new skills into action by making a small drawstring bag to take home. The day is supportive and hands‑on, with plenty of guidance throughout, helping you feel comfortable using a sewing machine independently by the end of the workshop.

Who this course is for
This course is for adults who are completely new to sewing machines. It is not suitable for learners who already have experience using a sewing machine.

Progression opportunities
After completing this workshop, learners can progress onto a beginners sewing accredited course or an extended five‑week course focused on using a sewing machine in more depth.
