Advanced Bag Making Course Description
This ten-week advanced course is designed for experienced sewists ready to elevate their bag-making practice to a professional standard.
Over the duration of the course, you will construct one highly structured bag made using reclaimed pleather or vinyl, focusing on reinforcement, precision construction, and a commercially clean finish.
Working with pleather requires a different mindset from fabric. It demands accuracy, confident handling, and thoughtful sequencing, as needle marks are permanent and repositioning is limited. This course will guide you through techniques specific to synthetic leather, including stabilising, edge finishing, clean topstitching, and building architectural form.
Attention to detail will be central. Seam allowances must align. Corners must be crisp. Construction order must be respected. This is technical, methodical work that builds discipline and confidence.
By the end of the ten weeks, you will leave with a fully finished, structured bag and the advanced construction skills required to independently create professional-quality accessories in pleather or vinyl.
