Course Title: Sashiko and Boro textile course

Course Description:
In this 3 week course you will be introduced to the Japanese art of Sashiko (decorative reinforcement stitching) and Boro (textile mending and patchwork) These age old methods, once used to repair and strengthen clothing have evolved into celebrated art forms symbolising sustainability and beauty in imperfection. Students will be guided to create their own textiles using scrap fabric, with the option to turn the textiles into beautiful and practical accessories including needles holders, zip pouches and pen pots.
What you will learn
· Straight stitch embroidery
· How to make a sashiko grid design
· How to do a cross stitch sashiko design
· How to layer fabric scraps to create unique textiles
· How to use the textile to make simple accessories
