This is a course for you if you are studying a childcare or teaching assistant course. The course will help you improve and develop your reading, writing and communication skills and learn specific vocabulary if you are interested in working as a teaching assistant or would like to work in childcare.
You will develop your skills in the following areas:
• Speaking and Listening:
o make relevant and extended contributions to discussions
o prepare for and contribute to the formal discussion of ideas and opinions
o present information/points of view clearly and in appropriate language
• Reading:
o identify the main points and ideas and how they are presented in a variety of texts
o Read and understand different types of texts in detail
o use information contained in texts
o Identify suitable responses to texts in more than one type of text
• Writing:
o write clearly and coherently, including a level of detail
o present information and ideas in a logical sequence
o use a range of language, different formats and a variety of structures in writing
