This inspiring course is suitable for all abilities, especially beginners and those returning to art after a break. Whether you’re completely new to drawing and painting or feeling a little out of practice, you’ll be supported in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

While the course is not accredited, it provides a strong foundation for progression to the Level 1 Certificate in Art and Design.

You’ll learn how to create expressive and vibrant landscape drawings and paintings that you’ll feel proud to display, share or exhibit. Alongside developing practical skills, the course supports wellbeing and mindfulness, offering a calm and rewarding creative experience.

With gentle guidance, you’ll build confidence in your artistic ability while learning how to observe and interpret the landscape with sensitivity and energy. Through focused teaching on line, tone, colour and texture, you’ll experiment with a range of materials including pencils, pens, pastels, charcoal, inks and paint. This process will help you develop your own personal style and a more confident, creative approach to using art materials.

By the end of the course, your observational skills will be noticeably sharper and you’ll have a deeper understanding of what makes a strong and engaging image.

- Planning and composing visually strong images
- Exploring a range of drawing and painting materials
- Techniques including line, tone, light, texture, perspective and washes
- Understanding and applying colour effectively
