What will you learn?
This course introduces you to the creative possibilities of drawing with pastels. You'll learn how to use both soft and oil pastels to create rich, expressive images full of colour and texture.
Through guided exercises, you'll develop confidence in observing and translating what you see into vibrant pastel drawings. You'll explore line, tone, colour blending, layering, and texture, all while discovering how to handle pastels to bring your own artistic style to life.
Expect a calming, mindful atmosphere, where you can enjoy the process of creating while improving your observational skills and learning to compose striking images.
You will work with traditional subjects such as still life and landscapes, and be encouraged to experiment with different techniques to find what works best for you.

Course Content Includes:
-Using both soft pastels and oil pastels
-Techniques for blending, layering, and creating texture
-Understanding colour theory and how to apply it in pastel work
-Exploring line, tone, light, and shadow
-Planning and composing balanced, engaging images
-Selecting appropriate papers and surfaces for pastel work
-Experimenting with mark-making and expressive drawing styles
