• Staff and volunteers from VCS organisations operating in Waltham Forest, aged 18 plus from 1 August of current year.

What will you learn?

• Develop awareness of, and the ability to act on, concerns about the safety and welfare of Adults at risk.
• Identifying who is and isn’t a vulnerable adult.
• Aims of Safeguarding.
• The basic requirements and steps of Reporting Safeguarding.
• How to respond to allegations made against staff and volunteers.
• How this applies to organisations working with the public in open community settings.
• Designed specifically with the needs of Waltham Forest VCS organisations in mind taking into account what residents may present in VCS community settings.
• Understand safeguarding law and policy in England.
o Care Act 2014.
• Consider types of harm and how to spot signs of abuse.
• Understand effective management of concerns and allegations.
• Consider safer working practices.
o Organisational responsibilities.
o Staff/ volunteer responsibilities.
• The role of the designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Share key local contacts and LBWF specific resources.
• LBWF specific case studies with discussions.
