Course title: Calm Parents, Calm Children

Time: 10am to 12pm
This free course is aimed at parents who would like to increase their knowledge and skills in parenting. It aims to help you manage your own emotions and model this for your child. It will enable parents to parent in a positive and confident manner and allow you, as a parent/carer to reflect on the strengths of your parenting and learn strategies to stay calm in challenging family situations and to apply effective solutions whilst developing your parenting skills in positive way.
What will I learn?
• How to identify triggers and encourage calm behaviour in your and your child.
• Effective communication to help manage your stress and anger levels.
• How to look at your child's behaviour and take appropriate action, understanding the context and reasons behind their actions.
• How to use praise as a discipline method and set clear boundaries to reinforce positive behaviour.
• How to remain consistent in you parenting approach to help your child understand expectations and consequences.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring a pen and notepad with you. You may also find it useful to bring coloured dividers and a A4 folder to keep your work in.
