Course description:
If you are interested in gaining skills and knowledge to work in Health, Social Care The Level 2 Certificate and Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care are nested qualifications,
meaning that the Certificate and Extended Diploma share common mandatory units.
They have been designed to enable learners to progress to the Level 3 Award, Certificate and Extended
Diploma in Health and Social Care, further learning at Level 3 and above, or assist with progression into
the workplace.
These qualifications aim to provide learners with knowledge and understanding across a range of key
subject areas in health and social care.
This Level 1 Award is accredited by NCFE. You will need to complete a portfolio of evidence showing how you meet the qualification criteria (e.g. written assignments, class notes, witness statements etc.)
You will complete 3 units:
• Understand the range of provision and roles in the sector
• Understand the Principles and Values
• Awareness of Health and Safety.
Progression opportunities These qualifications provide direct progression to our Level 3 Award, Certificate and Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. These qualifications do not provide a licence to practise, but may support progression into a range of job roles in the health and social care sector, including:
• Care support workers in adult residential settings
• Healthcare assistants in community, primary care and acute health environments
• Care support workers in domiciliary services, supported living or day services
• Community-based support workers.
