This course is accredited by Gateway Qualifications and you will gain an Essential Digital Skills Qualification at Entry 3.
The course will include the following 5 units of learning:
• Using Devices & Handling Information:
- improve understanding of hardware, software, operating systems plus popular applications
- locate and install an application on a mobile device; change system settings, including those for accessibility
- develop skills to manage and store information by working with files, drives and folders
- locate, open/retrieve, read file information and use different storage systems/devices to save
- identify and solve simple technical issues
- improve methods of finding online information and moving between websites or around webpages
• Creating and Editing
- produce documents and edit, enhance and format them for different purposes
- capture, edit and save images as well as saving audio sound and video digital media
• Communicating
- improve skills and understanding of working with emails and video calls for different purposes
• Transacting
- Online safety when using or buying goods and services, including understanding the use of online and text verification codes
- purchase goods and/or services, compare online products and manage account settings used in transactions
- complete and submit online forms
• Being safe and responsible online
- awareness of good digital citizen practices which will help you to be healthy, safe and use to the internet responsibly
- Best practices involves privacy and data protection as well as data backup and knowledge of illegal, inappropriate or harmful content or software and being mindful of tone and intention before transmitting information.

Before joining the course you will need to complete a short assessment to make sure this course is suitable for you, unless you have completed a Digital Skills for Improvers course and are progressing to the next level.
