Course overview
This course aims to introduce you to key single-entry manual bookkeeping skills, as a standalone qualification, or as a first step towards the intermediate and advanced levels. The course also includes theory of accounting software.
If you would like a solid introduction to bookkeeping or just a refresher, you need bookkeeping skills for your business, are interested in running bookkeeping services for local businesses, are currently in employment or training and you need workplace skills or would like to acquire new skills to help with a change in your career, then this course is for you.
You will learn the following:
• The role of the bookkeeper
• Financial transactions
• Processing customer and supplier transactions
• Processing receipts and payments
How you'll be assessed
At the end of the course, you will be assessed in the form of a computer based test.
Entry requirements
Before joining the course, you will need to complete a short assessment to make sure this course is suitable for you.
We recommend that learners have a good standard of English and Math.

If you’re on a low wage or receiving certain benefits you may qualify for a 100% or 70% concession. Speak to frontline staff to find out if you are eligible.
Course enrolment
We have online and face to face appointments available. These last for around 2 hours, you will watch a short presentation on our AAT offer, followed by a short assessment in English and Maths.

What you can do after
Once you have successfully passed the AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping you can progress onto AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting.
