Learn some decoration techniques that will help you embellish your fabrics and garments. We will cover hand and machine sewing methods, combining modern and traditional methods. We do have a selection of fabrics - but you are encouraged to bring in any fabrics your have at home and any garments you would like to cut up and recycle in your work.
Pls note: buy or collect beads, buttons etc as we have a limited amount
This course is ideal for beginners who would like to make a piece of embellished fabric and also for those with some sewing experience who would like to refresh their skills
We will cover:
• Surface embellishment: using beads, buttons, sequins
• Using lace fabric or lace pieces in your work
• Hand stitching: Kantha, French Knot, Satin, Backstitch
• Machine stitching: applique, quilting, machine embroidery
Please also bring: Pen, paper, A4 folder to collate handouts, samples etc, a mixture of sewing needles, sewing threads + a basic sewing kit
Basic sewing kit: fabric scissors, pins, small scissors, tape measure, sewing threads
This course is suitable for beginners and those with more experience
you can enrol onto many of the creative courses available, including Start Sewing, Dressmaking and other arts and crafts classes.
