Have you always wanted to paint landscapes with watercolours and inks but weren’t sure where to start? Have you got some experience of painting or drawing but feel a little rusty or confused?
Whatever your ability, if you would like some practical, gentle guidance in composing landscape studies, this course is for you.
Course Information:
The course will help you plan and compose successful images, experimenting with different watercolour techniques including:
• Washes
• Wet-in-Wet
• Monochrome and tone
• Colour theory and practice
• Mark making
• Lifting colour
• Masking
• Wax Resist
• Using inks with pen, brush and the wash
• Selecting and preparing paper for painting
This friendly short course is designed to help you gain confidence in watercolour painting and help you to learn to look and describe what you see with sensitivity and energy. You will be gently guided through line, tone, colour and texture to maximise your painterly potential, enjoy your washes and handle your brushes with style.
Learners will explore many traditional watercolour and ink techniques within the subject of urban and rural landscape, including:
• Aerial perspective
• Linear perspective and buildings
• Skies
• Waterscapes
• Flora and fauna
You will be working from photographs and sketches as well as with observational study, weather willing, in the great outdoors.
You will be encouraged to try different techniques in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, to find your own unique style with this delicate, fascinating medium
