Learn some sewing skills that will help you alter clothes for yourself, family and friends. You will be shown how to change a zip, open up an item and add pockets to a garment. There will also be an opportunity to turn unwanted garments into fun accessories such as a shopper bag or cushion cover.
Pls note: zip fastenings on denim jeans & suit trousers are not covered on this course.
This course is ideal for beginners who would like to make a piece of Kantha fabric and also for those with some sewing experience who would like to refresh their skills
We will cover:
• Opening up or taking in a garment eg. dress, top, trousers or a skirt
• Inserting a zip or replacing a zip
• Adding a pocket: in-seam or a patch pocket
Please also bring: Pen, paper, A4 folder to collate handouts, samples etc, a mixture of sewing needles, sewing threads + a basic sewing kit
Basic sewing kit: fabric scissors, pins, thread nippers/small scissors, tape measure, sewing threads
This course is suitable for beginners and those with more experience
you can enrol onto many of the creative courses available, including Start Sewing, Dressmaking and other arts and crafts classes.
